Instructions For Invisalign

Instructions For Invisalign

• You are to wear your Invisalign aligners at all times with the exception of eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.
• Aim for 22 hours of wear per day.
• Change your aligners every two weeks. A small calender with dates marked on it with aligner number would be a great reminder.

Brushing

After brushing your teeth in the morning and at night, brush your Invisalign aligners with your toothbrush and toothpaste, then rinse under water. It is important that you brush your teeth after each meal and prior to re-inserting your aligners to maintain necessary hygiene.

Diet

Remove your aligners eating and drinking anything except water. Keeping aligners on while drinking may stain them and you may risk decay from drinking fluids with sugar in them.

Smoking

We discourage smoking while wearing aligners because it is possible for the aligners to become discolored.

Pain

There will be initial discomfort after each aligner is inserted as some pressure is required to achieve. This should ease after a maximum of two to three days, keeping in mind every patient is different. We recommend keeping pain relief on hand throughout the treatment to help relieve discomfort.

Speech

There is hardly any speech impairment with Invisalign. It may occur in some people, and you may have a slight lisp for a day or two. However, as your tongue gets used to having aligners in your mouth, any lisp or minor speech impediment caused by the aligners should disappear.

Aligner Case

When your aligners are not in your mouth we recommend that you use the provided black colored aligner case, as this will help protect them from loss and damage. Also keep one more box to keep the previous aligner. If in any case , you have lost the current stage aligner, you can use the previous aligner till you receive the new aligner from Lab.
Note: Keep past aligners in a clean plastic bag, out of reach from children and pets.

Appointments

As per your Invisalign aligner’s schedule it is your responsibility to follow your schedule at home with regards to changing your aligners on specified dates. There will be regular appointments to visit us so progress can be monitored and next stage aligners given. It is important to keep your Invisalign appointments so that the treatment moves as quickly as possible and next aligners are given at the appropriate time. Overseas patients keep sending their photographs of teeth through mail to us to check the progress. We at Faces n Smiles dental, give a small training to patients to click the good quality photos of teeth required to see the progress.

What happens if my aligners are lost or break?

It’s a very rare situation that aligner is lost by the patient or it breaks. Immediately contact Faces n Smiles dental staff if this happens.
